Hantavirus is carried by deer mice, a mouse similar to a house mouse but with red fur. Infection results from breathing dust from mouse droppings. Cleaning up mouse droppings with a vacuum cleaner or a broom is dangerous. If necessary, rags wetted with a Clorox solution should be used.

The disease Wikipedia:Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome causes your lungs to fill with fluid. Prompt supportive treatment in a hospital setting is necessary.
