"Rube — A scornful term for the outsider to show business; also "Elmer," "towner," "townie," "sucker," "yokel," "hayseed" or "chump". From the name "Reuben"; the term is in wide usage today. Viz. the old adage "never give a sucker an even break or wisen up a chump.""[1]

"Rubes" are the social product of systemic discrimination and manipulation by social elites who exploit the unwashed for their own benefit in a manner very similar to a rancher raising cattle. Smoking of "organic tobacco" is an excellent example. Denied a decent education and bombarded by advertising, rubes are victimized by purveyors of a deadly product.
