- Ford Madox Ford publishes A Man Could Stand Up. It is the third book of a four-volume work titled Parade's End published between 1924 and 1928. In 2001 the collection would be named as part of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century by the editorial board of the American Modern Library.
