2012 Summer Olympics

Bids are being made for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The confirmed bids include:
- Havana, Cuba
- Istanbul, Turkey
- Leipzig, Germany
- London, United Kingdom
- Madrid, Spain
- Moscow, Russia
- New York City, United States of America
- Paris, France
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Other cities that had considered bidding, but who did not meet the deadline, included:
- Abuja, Nigeria
- Budapest, Hungary
- Cairo, Egypt
- Hyderabad, India
- Milan, Italy
- New Delhi, India
- Rome, Italy
- Sao Paulo, Brazil
- Stockholm, Sweden
- Toronto, Canada
- Warsaw, Poland
The deadline to submit a bid was July 15, 2003. All nine submitted bits also met the January 15, 2004 deadline for an IOC questionnaire, and are all expected to make announcements on January 16. The IOC will choose a winner on July 6, 2005 in Singapore.
