Adaption is the basic process of accommodating or adjusting to different circumstances whether as the result of natural processes or as the result of cultural development. It is generally recognized that human culture has been changing more and more rapidly since the industrial revolution with rapid innovation during the 20th century.
Changed circumstances either as the result of a species moving into new territory or as the result of natural or human caused change is a basic imput into the process of evolution.
Cultural adaption may be considered as well as biological adaption.
Adaptation or adaption may refer to:
- Biological adaption, an anatomical structure, physiological process or behavioral trait that has evolved.
- Neural adaptation, the ability of neural systems to change their response behaviour depending on the recent stimulus history.
- Adaptation (eye), ability of the eye to adjust to various levels of darkness and light.
