- January - The United States Mint will follow the 50 State Quarters program by minting quarters in honor of Washington, D.C. Coins for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the US Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands[1] will follow every eight weeks throughout the year.[2]
