Philosopher
From Wikinfo
A philosopher is someone devoted to and producing results in philosophy, ethics, or one of the closely related disciplines.
Centuries ago, all kinds of thinkers and scholars were called "philosophers", such as Galileo, Copernicus and Newton, among others, until Universities began separating Philosophy out among the current departments in the Humanities, Social sciences, and Science. Philosophers may hold academic posts or work as independent writers or scholars, and philosophers are more recently doing philosophy through alternative media and styles.
