I removed the discussions, archives and assorted templates, warnings, etc. to produce a useable discussion page for this article. Clean mind, clean slate, take your pick ! heh. Terryeo 12:36, 29 Jul 2006 (EDT)

Link to critical article

I have imported and made a link to Scientology controversy. Note the placement of the link at the top of the main article. That is our practice regarding links to alternative articles. FJB 04:31, 30 Jul 2006 (EDT)

Knowledge can be used to do good or harm

Indeed. But the article is pointing out a relationship that has nothing to do with good or bad. It is making a point that knowledge it self, all by itself, in and and of itself alone, is not power. For example, let us take a powerful datum, a datum that led to the development of the atom bomb, and surely the atom bomb is powerful, is it not? The datum that some elements are radioactive is a piece of knowledge. But that piece of knowledge, do you see, is not powerful, not all by itself. The power arises from understanding. When that datum is understood in context with other data, and when that understanding finds application, physical application, then we have power. The power is not the knowledge all by itself. The power comes about when a piece of knowledge is understood. This is what the article is saying. Therefore, sticking in this good / evil thing, at that point, has nothing to do with the information being discussed. And is distracting to the point being made. So, I rm (removed) that line.
