The word unit can mean more than one thing:
- In most physical contexts, 'unit' is used to mean a physical unit
- A currency is a unit of money (a monetary unit).
- 'unit' can also refer to the number one. See also Root of unity, identity element.
- A unit vector is a vector with length one.
- In complex numbers, i is called the imaginary unit.
- An invertible element in a ring is also called a unit.
