Divine Chocolate is a Fairtrade chocolate company which is 45% owned by cocoa farmers. It originated in the 1990 with the organizing of Kuapa Kokoo, a farmers' co-op in Ghana. In 1998 with the support of Twin Trading, a fair trade company the farmers launched The Day Chocolate Company with the support of The Body Shop, Christian Aid and Comic Relief, The Department for International Development, NatWest. In 1998 the initial product "Divine Fairtrade milk chocolate" was launched in the United Kingdom. It is stocked in the 800 stores of The Cooperative in the UK which since 2002 has produced its private label]] chocolate using fairtrade cocoa from Divine Chocolate.
