Non-leftists

I think that non-leftists should be able to write essays because they would think we are a propaganda site, they vandalize because they can't and we will debunk it anyways so what is the worry?

Well, if they use sarcasm offensively, the essay shall be deleted. Same as leftists who write insults, etc. Well, that's what I think.. But Ok, they may use sarcasm as long as it's not offensive. —

Wikia achievements

Wikia's new achievements are similar to Communpedia:Awards, the advantage is that these do not have to be awarded manually, and that leaderboards are kept automatically. I have temporarily enabled them so you can test them, see Special:AchievementsCustomize and Special:WikiaLabs. This does not mean that we will be officially enabling awards, this is why I have started this discussion. There are some disadvantages if we changed Communpedia:Awards to these achievements, for example, they cannot be fully customized as can manual awards. Please, try out these achievements and then vote whether to keep Communpedia:Awards or Wikia achievements. —

Fascists?

Should fascists have the right to membership or should we ban them from the wiki? —
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Your Commie comrade, Rebel Fighter! 04:49, June 8, 2011 (UTC)
Neutral. Well, I don't think fascists would even want to edit here, if fascists were allowed to create essays, I think fascists and leftists would probably attack and insult each other. Perhaps fascists should create a "fascistpedia" to post their racist-nationalist BS, not here. However, if a fascist makes neutral contributions, then he is welcome to edit. Fascists should be like capitalists, except fascists cannot post POV, not even in essays. —

I proposed we secede from the Union, for the lolz. P. S., they the government won't care unless we stop paying taxes. I mean the flag and the coat of arms are taken care of all we need is a constitution and an anthem.

Deletion policy

We need another 10 original, featured articles, rather than another 10,000 stubs/articles copied from Wikipedia. So I propose a new deletion policy. I believe, this will encourage users to write better articles, and pay attention to what they are writing. Also, stubs make it look as if those pages had already been covered (blue links), I think, sometimes it's better to have them as red links so users know the article is missing information. What do you think of the policy? And the given time periods? If this is approved, what should we do with the articles already tagged with a maintenance template?

Support As author of such policy
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
xXPowerMexicoXx (Talk) 09:10, 3 August 2011 (MSD)
Not a fan of this policy, but it is viable and perhaps wise. For the purpose of attracting both readers and contributors a few well-referenced articles of substantial quality are worth more than thousands of articles imported from Wikipedia or poor unreferenced, half-finished stubs. I prefer a more relaxed policy but only on personal basis. Serious work requires a much more disciplined approach. User:Fred Bauder Talk 06:37, 21 September 2011 (MSD)
Considering that we a living through a profound crisis of capitalism I think articles analyzing the causes, nature, and consequences of that crisis would be most useful. Capitalism Hits the Fan is work of that nature although it seems to address only United States issues. User:Fred Bauder Talk 21:46, 21 September 2011 (MSD)
Support How may we say we are true to our beliefs, when we refuse to allow others to spread them?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mao (talkcontribs)
Oppose What do we earn by nipping articles in the bud, unless we have problems with hard disk space? Policies like this are periodically proposed on wikipedia, and the fact that they are systematically refused is a good part of the continued success of our big brother. Even if there were sense in the policy, we are few, pressed for time, and a week is not enough. Take a realistic example: I write about the Comintern. I am now left with two options, bluelinking all important members and filling complete biographies within two weeks, or placing no sign whatsoever of which member are important. This is not a reasonable approach: and we are not the ones who destroy both documents and the labour of productive, if not massively so, comrades. Communistscientist 22:08, 22 April 2012 (MSK)

  • (User creation log); 17:22 . . Bachiko66Lowe (Talk | contribs | block) New user account

Is done by a bot, which seems to plague all wikis. It rotates between proxy servers all over the world which I why I always block the ip they use for 1 year, however there are hundreds of thousands of vulnerable computers that can be abused in this way. Because it is a bot, it follows a formula for creation of user names, and articles, or spammy user talk pages. It is always possible, of course, that a legitimate use might accidentally create a similar user name. Which makes preemptive blocking based on the formulaic name problematic. User:Fred Bauder Talk 18:48, 27 October 2011 (MSK)

I believe common sense is still enough to decide which accounts to block in sight, if in doubt you can use the checkuser page and search for the IP at http://www.whatismyipaddress.com , this page lets you know whether the Ip is a proxy. —

I've had good luck with things like a middle name. Simple arithmetic is a bad idea.
  • One word name for Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov: Lenin
  • Birthplace of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov: Ulyanovsk
  • One word name for Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili: Stalin
  • Birthplace of Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili: Gori

Or similar questions. We know the answers, spammers have to look them up. User:Fred Bauder Talk 18:10, 22 August 2012 (MSK) You can make them more complicated but at a cost:

  • Soviet missile designer born in the same town as Stalin: Alexander Nadiradze
  • What year was Alexander Nadiradze born: 1914
  • What year did Alexander Nadiradze die: 1987

Just factoids from Wikipedia. User:Fred Bauder Talk 18:10, 22 August 2012 (MSK)

I think some people wouldn't know those answers. I would suggest even easier questions (What is the color commonly used to symbolize communism? Was Russia a socialist country before the 1917 revolution? (yes/no)) —
