Vietnam is a state in Southeast Asia, known by many for its anti-imperialist victory against the United States during the Vietnam War. The state is governed by the Communist Party of Vietnam and is next to Laos. Vietnam has a rapidly growing mixed economy. As of 2013 there was active debate between factions of the ruling party and the public regarding serious economic problems such as failed government-owned ventures and unemployment.
As of 2013 Vietnam began importing coal from Australia to feed power plants in the south of the country as needs for coal began to outrun domestic production of 43 million tons and exports from coal mines in the north dwindled.
