The condition of the working class in the United States in 2016 is marked by lack of consciousness by the mass of American workers. A significant portion, mainly ethnic "white" people, have thrown their support to Donald Trump, a wealthy Republican candidate for President who has mounted a populist campaign to "Make America Great." He has promised to "put America first" and denounced global trade agreements and illegal immigration.[1]
